Meet the Mixologist
Jo van Zyl, is a visionary with an unwavering passion for unique design and a deep-rooted love for flowers. With a background in garden design and an innate appreciation for the beauty of blooms, her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. After completing a post-graduate diploma in garden and landscape design at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design in the UK, Jo's appreciation and love of the natural world was taken to a deeper level, grounded by design principals and floral combinations.
For three years, Jo worked as an associate designer for a prominent design studio in London, designing state-of-the-art garden projects across the globe. This included creating awe-inspiring show gardens for events such as the Chelsea Flower Show, Chaumont-sur-Loire and Hampton Court. During this time, she met her South African husband - ultimately moving to the Eastern Cape of South Africa to embark on the adventure of a lifetime, chasing her passions and dreams.
Building upon these principles, Jo aims to bring the same transformative concepts to her brand. Her flower farm is not just a venture; it’s a way for Jo to nurture her passion for flowers while providing for her family. It serves as a place of beauty, enjoyment, and business, where her family can be part of her journey without the need for extended periods of separation, which had been a reality during landscape design projects.
Jo’s true joy lies in the art of creating unusual and clever designs that exude
thoughtfulness and playfulness. By elevating the role of the flower farmer to a
modern and stylish position, she injects a fresh, snazzy vibe into the industry.
With a profound dedication to keeping her fingers in the soil, the Floral Mixologist's flower farm promises to be a haven where beauty thrives, joy abounds, and dreams take root.
